This Sun Piling Equipment construction site was located in downtown Washington DC, only 600m (@1/2 mile) from Union Station, where the client was building a new development of exclusive apartments. On the site they were installing over 800 x 350mm (14”) square concrete piles with six woven steel wires.
Sun Piling Equipment purchased a MotoCut Q400 along with a Doosan DX85 tracked excavator and Rototilit RT30 tiltrotator to operate the cutter. Traditionally they would have cut the piles manually using petrol driven power saws, but this is slow and dangerous work. Michael Jahnigen, owner of SPE wanted to introduce technology into this sector to improve the safety for his employees, offer a better quality finish to his client, and improve his onsite efficiency generating a greater return on his investment for his company.
